"We’re a lukewarm people for all our feast days and hard work. Not much touches us, but we long to be touched. We lie awake at night willing the darkness to part and show us a vision. Our children frighten us in their intimacy, but we make sure they grow up like us. Lukewarm like us. On a night like this, hands and faces hot, we can believe that tomorrow will show us angels in jars and that the well-known woods will suddenly reveal another path."
—Jeanette Winterson (The Passion)

she felt like something in the universe shattered her time and place, leaving a little girl with silent fingers stringing shards together into bracelets. spring time sun, her knees in the grass and an eternity scattered all around her. curiosity matched colour with colour, shape with shape without regard for what everything-anything meant. how everything-anything mattered. she had bracelets to her elbow once she was done.

and now she’s here. living a moment before she’s ready. having a day come around too late. repeating cycle after cycle, the same things. the same movements. the same lessons. until the mismatched spectrum turns into a different season. different hue. different style.

and now she’s here with little to understand the connection between now and yesterday and the day before if not for the slight piece of string determined by wide eyes.

now i’ve found
the greatest love of all
is mine

"In the early days of television, everything was in monochrome. People of the past had a greater understanding of shades of grey than they do now."
Things that have made me happy recently:

receiving some sort of direction
friends that care about where i’m going
remembering that i actually love drawing
people having faith in me
my year 8 girls, always
